Skin masks are a great way to get all those impurities out of your skin and add necessary nutrients and antioxidants. Skin masks can be expensive, however, so it is often a great idea to make some from everyday ingredients that you have around the house. It’s all very well and good to go to the spa for a day and be pampered with the best quality skin masks, at an enormous price, but what happens if your bank account simply won’t support your big plans? The answer is quick, easy, cheap, DIY skin masks in the comfort of your own home.

The Chocolate Cake

So you may have heard of chocolate cakes being made with avo. If not, where have you been? This face mask is all about rejuvenating cocoa, and moisturizing avo. Add some raw honey to the mix, and you have a delicious mak that will not only give your skin the glow that you have been looking for but taste great too.

How To Do It:
  • Mash a quarter of a ripe avo in a bowl. It’s ok if the avo is a bit black, that just means that it is riper and easier to use.
  • Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder to the avo. Organic cocoa is best, as is sustainably sourced.
  • Add a teaspoon of raw honey. Raw honey means that it has retained all of its great natural antibacterial properties.
  • Mix the ingredients together well.
  • Apply to your face, and let dry for ten minutes. Take the time to relax.
  • Wash off with a good quality cleanser and tone.

Oats and Honey

Oatmeal has long been known for its cleansing properties. For thousands of years, women have bathed in an oatmeal bath to achieve younger looking clearer skin. This facemask incorporates all that ancient knowledge and combines it with some modern era science. Honey has fabulous anti-bacterial properties, egg yolk is a great protein injection that tightens the skin, and olive oil imparts natural moisture.

How To Do It:
  • Mix a quarter of a cup of oatmeal with one egg yolk.mix well, even if it is very dry and lumpy.
  • Add one tablespoon of olive oil, mix well
  • Add one tablespoon of raw honey. By now the mixture should be spreadable.
  • Spread over your face and neck, and leave on for 10 minutes while you relax.
  • Wash off with a good quality cleanser and tone.

Lightening and Brightening

Vitamin C is a common ingredient of face masks and face creams all over the world. This is because Vitamin C has been proven to lighten dark spots on the skin, as well as tighten saggy skin. It is also a great antioxidant that helps fight the effects of free radicals. Create your own Vitamin C facemask with simple household ingredients in order to see a visible difference in your appearance.

How To Do It:
  • Use either powdered Vitamin C or fresh lemon juice. If you have both, you can mix the powdered Vitamin C into the fresh lemon juice.
  • Combine with a quarter of a cup of plain organic yogurt.
  • Add a tablespoon of aloe vera gel for moisture.
  • Spread over your face and neck, and leave on for 10 minutes while you relax.
  • Wash off with a good quality cleanser and tone.

Of course, the best way to ensure that you are getting all the correct things into your face via a mask is to buy one from a well-known name brand.
